Our little farm comprises the following buildings:
As at February 2017, we have performed some initial work on the farm house to make it more habitable: the back of the house has been re-roofed; we have had a complete electrical re-wire; we have installed wood-fired central heating running from a wood oven in the kitchen and a further wood-burning stove in the living room; we have replaced the old sanitation system with one that now 'conforms.'
At this point, we must pause our work until we can generate more of an income, but are using the time to design for the future, when hopefully we will be able to make the buildings work for us in a different way. Content will be added in this section as the 'write-up' of the designs progresses.
- The old farmhouse, dating back to around 1800, with an extension in 1965
- The main barn, which dates back further, with two subsequent extensions, including 'the hovel'
- The workshop, which was constructed using hand made blocks between 1965 and 1977
- A second barn, formerly used as a chicken house and currently used as our potting shed
